Fallen Poem by Kitty Marie Lucas

Fallen

the lullabies of lies he said
i slept so soundly on the bed
once upon a time
i was unafraid

but not a word could sooth his mind
believing in a world unkind
shallow doubting heart
risen from its grave

a thousand pounds of love
they weighed upon a soul
i see now, my heart
could never make him whole

so bleed the angel
they forgot
she'll miss her love
waste none, she's lost
another trial
world, chase her away
she mourned sweetly
and lost her wings today

for help, i cried out desperately
the fools, they merely prayed for me
didn't you tell me
i am beyond god's reach?

my heart too small to hold it all
is weak, condemn me for my fall
and i lie breaking
once more at your feet

one too many struggles
overwhelm me this time
tired of betrayal
i have nothing, so i

i bleed the angel
they forgot
she'll miss her love
waste none, she's lost
another trial
world, chase her away
she mourned sweetly
and lost her wings today
