False Messiah Poem by Kitty Marie Lucas

False Messiah

Did you think you could leave
That easily?
I’m still here, alive
And feeling
I can’t let you go
How you let me go
I have to live, breath
Your memories

And I’ll save myself
From what you do wrong
Be my own goddamned messiah
Angels did nothing to
Hold me together
But demons they grab me
In my personal hell

You should know I have
It harder
You may be lonely,
But I’m diseased
They got names to call
My reckless abandon
And I live in your world
Your aftermath

And I’ll save the world
From what you did wrong
Be a false goddamned messiah
Angels did nothing to
Make me feel better
But demons they hold me
In my personal hell

What I’d say to you
Is complicated
If you only knew
That you had left me
Living
My pain, it’s you

My burden, you

And I’ll save the world
From what you did wrong
Be a false goddamned messiah
Angels did nothing to
Make me feel better
But demons they hold me
In my personal hell

And I’m safe in hell
From what you did wrong
Be your own goddamned messiah
