Fallen Soldier Poem by Dillon Keuthonymos Crawford

Fallen Soldier

As the moon begins to rise
The hearts begin to break
Not of sorrow or misery
But that of lost loved ones
Those unlucky soldiers
Called away
Torn from the ones they love
Torn from those that love them
But they remain in our hearts
No matter how hard the pull
They remain
And in our mind
They are our protectors
Fighting a battle not of their own
To protect those that they love
Those that need help receive
But those that lost their loved ones
Only get sent back to grieve
They get called time and time again
So when they are in sight
Thank them for their bravery
In a time of warfare beyond needed
In a time where greed is the driving factor
In a time where these wars are not needed
We sit in discomfort and dismay
But forever they will stay
As those that love
They look on
Holding a loved ones hand
Believing
They will be home soon
Tears of fear
Tears of hate
Tears for those with a quickened fate
Now here is the sun
The light that shows the truth
They are coming home
Run to their arms
Thank god for their return
Believe
It’s the best thing that you can do
Especially in a time where tears are falling
For those that you love that have been sent
Over seas
Over mountains
Over fields
But not over our love for them
And here we stay hand in hand
Knowing that soon
We will see them again

In dedication to those soldiers sent over to fight a battle not of their choosing
And to a single one in particular Alan B, uncle to my best-friend, we will stand strong when you get called away and while you are away we will be waiting for your return, your in our hearts.
