The fallen warriors of foreign wars
Cleave my heart and soul to their very core.
There's no effective balm in any store
That soothes empathetic pain I endure.
My wounded heart will recover I guess
My soul shall remain immortally maimed.
They pale by comparison more or less
When compared to the deaths the wars have claimed.
All of the fallen are heroes at rest
Paying the ultimate price with their lives.
There's absolutely no way to express
The mental anguish I feel inside.
So on this saddened memorial day
I offer up prayers in a heartfelt way.
