Families Poem by Daniel B Kelleher

Families

FAMILIES
I gave ye all the gift of love
A gift straight from my heart
I asked for nothing in return

No matter as the years roll by
That gift will remain with ye
I asked for nothing in return

If only ye understood my gift
It was and always meant to be
A gift of love to you from me

My heart tells me I was wrong
On ye the gift of love was wasted
Love from the heart is real and true

Love is the greatest gift
Cherished by one and all
Loving families loving friends

I asked for nothing in return
When I gave this gift to you
One day ye will understand

Parents gift of love to ye
Never take for granted
Parents asked nothing in return

Apiece of kindness
A piece of love
A call A visit now and then

To parents it would mean a lot
We asked nothing in return
Just to hear from ye saying

We love you Mum we love you Dad
Would mean the world to us
Don't wait until it's too late
