Fantasyland Is Burning Poem by w.c. Gosnell

Fantasyland Is Burning

Rating: 5.0

It was reported on the evening news
that fantasyland was burning.
The offices of movie production companies
and their movie sets and wardrobe warehouse
were all ablaze. Crowds of tourists waiting to see
their favorite movie sets of the 1930's were locked
out of the lots. Burning wardrobe outfits were floating
on the hot air from the flames like seagulls mourning
the end of a dream. Julia Robert's lingerie from
Pretty woman was white hot and sizzling at the base of
a plastic palm tree on lot seventy four. Charlton Heston's
brown tunic and sandals from the Ten commandments
ignited a small group of ornamental trees on lot thirteen.
Bing Crosby's priests outfit from the Bells of saint Mary's
turned to ash as the noon time Bells of Our lady of immaculate
redemption scared nesting pigeons off their window ledges.
