Farewell Poem by Elizabeth Muller

Farewell

Let's talk about you for a moment here:

What makes you tick inside
I don't quite understand
All I know is, I love the way
you take me by the hand

And when you get upset for reasons unknown
I make you talk about it
and from that
together,
we've grown

How you giggle at ever silly
thing I say
Even if it's at me
I still like the way

Not to mention the surprises
that you gave me
The rose, the cupcake, macaroon
It seemed never ending

To comprehend the feeling I feel for you
Is unlikely

It's strong - leaving me weak
It overcomes - leaving me powerless
It's wonderful - But leaves me angry sometimes
It's addicting - leaving me affected

A heart is like a bone
If it breaks, it will heal
But afterwards it is weak for a while
and more capable of breaking again

There on in it is naturally guarded
If you guard your bone, you don't experience fun
If you guard your heart you don't experience love

So I stopped protecting my heart even though I'm leaving
I got to feel again what it is to love someone
…and be loved

You were worth every minute of it too

You stole my heart
I will forever remember my time with you

I'll miss you like the sun misses the moon
