Down the way
Where the nights are gay
And the sun shines daily on the plains
I took a trip on a moving bus
And when I reached Borno I made a stop
But I'm sad to say I'm on my way
I won't be back for many years
My heart is down
My head is turning around
I saw blood in streets of maiduguri town
Sounds of wailing everywhere
And the crying mothers raped while they mourn
I must declare my heart is not there
Though I've been from Benin to Abuja
Down at the market you can hear
Everyone cry out while on their heads
Food stuffs are so expensive
An annual income cannot afford:
Yam, rice, scubian fish and all
And times are hard everytime of the year.
Sad to say I'm on my way
even if it is hell
I won't be back forever
My heart is down
My head is turning around
Because life is so
unbearable in Nigerian's towns.
