Fasting Poem by Brad Adams

Fasting

I crave freedom from my craving
I fast to tame the appetite
I fear that it would not satisfy if consumed
Better to have none than to find it does not fill
Better to be left with hope that something could
The emptiness would be too real, too permanent
While they say: do you not love me, or are you fasting again?
