I pick up the phone and pause;
As her words ring through my mind,
'You can call me any time'
Like echoes in a cave repeating,
I linger on the thought;
As I replay our encounter,
How she smiled; twinkle in her eye;
I felt vaguely naked,
As if she could see clear inside me;
Wanted to walk away from her stare,
I thought her no more than blind;
What did she see in my eyes?
But she laughed at my inhibition;
And took me by the hand,
She set my soul free;
As she delved into whom I was,
And I no longer was just another;
She made me strive to be more,
Yet all the time I was myself;
She led me to find me,
I read the numbers and dial;
I call my fate...
