Wanting what we cannot have,
This rings so true,
As I look at you.
Nothing I would not do,
...
I put you on a pedestal;
Not because you are unattainable;
Or because you are in a class all your own,
I do this because I want you to be special;
...
In between me and you
There are volumes untold
We the bookends
Kept the stories within,
...
Today was the day
I looked about and saw the sky;
The world, everything around me
In a whole new way.
...
I hope she gets there,
Wherever she's going,
However far; however high,
Always off running; I know she'll fly,
...
Compose me a song
I'll never hear;
And I'll write you a letter
You'll never read,
...
I loved you,
But you made me past due;
My unconventional ways
Were too old school for your taste,
...
Beauty decomposing,
Like Mozart unraveling;
A symphony from his grave,
She no longer would behave;
...
I never knew dawn could break,
With peace so deep and hope so wide,
...
Beauty in her possession;
Is a power no mortal or god can wield,
...
Where have you been?
Have you been there
Right in front of me,
In the thin of the blue unseen
...

Wanting You
Wanting what we cannot have,
This rings so true,
As I look at you.
Nothing I would not do,
For a minute with you,
A sweet smile,
A kiss or two.
Skin my knees,
Scrape my elbows,
To cause myself pain
Beckoning laughter,
All because
Of your innocent winks,
Distracting lips,
Melodious laugh.
I'm captivated,
Mesmerized,
A plea I send up,
What can I do?
You make me wonder,
Make me dream,
Make me ponder,
Make me scream.
I look everywhere
For eyes of your hue,
I want you, you, and only you,
Had I but one wish,
I'd wish for you,
In earnest I wait,
I wait for you.
