Figurines Poem by Francis Blade

Figurines

clay figurines
in a paper bag
forgotten

left
outside for sand to find
and cover

eyes closed
with minds
atom scattered

they wait
to be found
left only with their thoughts

they curse the howling
between their ears
and bend the light

into their hearts
to create the skillful hands

the curious boy and girl
sweep away the sand

the figurines see each other
again
after many lives and many masters
