Fire Fox Pt.4 Poem by James Meaney

Fire Fox Pt.4

And every-morning I wake to you
A firefox of the suns subset
The orange stain in the sky
Reminds me that I shouldn’t leave yet

Because A turned back
Will show a long shadow of chemistry
That’s still intact, from the last -
time you left me

I’ll gather embers of your soul
To remember the last December
Flowers in hand, I knocked on your door
And you opened up to me
And that aint a metaphor
I asked for a match
But it wasn’t better before
Until I lit it on your lips.
