Fireflies Poem by Shylah Clarissa Turcotte

Fireflies

Fireflies fireflies
Dance for me tonight
Tell me that you love me
and make the pain alright

The stars refuse to shine
And the moon won't come to play
So I need you to light the path
of the broken place I stay

I wish I could go beyond the street
where you so easily fly
But memories of love keep me here
Though I've done my best to try

Fireflies fireflies
I know my pleas are in vain
But I need someone with me tonight
To help rid me of the pain

Dance for me and light the dark
So it won't drown me yet
I can hear the crickets with you
Playing a song of regret

Oh how you tell my life
With words that I can't speak
Make me feel young again
So I won't feel so weak

Fireflies fireflies
I fear I'll never be free
So please, until the dark goes away
Won't you dance for me?
