Fireside Morning Poem by Laurence Overmire

Fireside Morning

The moon dripping sadly
Behind an obscure cloud
Gray night taking over
Where clarity once
Gave meaning to the new
Day's light.

I feel the waves crashing
Breaking down the resistant rock
Something inside once tendered
To the shore
Now slipping
Like weary fingers giving way…

There's a resonance here
The gull taking flight
Through the swirling mist
Another ending
Another beginning
Another journey

Calls me home.
