First Impressions Poem by Michael Peterson

First Impressions

First impressions, First words
Expressions, Reactions
They can say a lot about a person
Good, bad, happy or sad
Brings a smile or a frown
The eyes say so much
Such as love at first sight or mistrust
Movement towards can be aggressive
Hyper or very opened, very confident
Stepping back could be Shy
Could be lonely, closed up, withdrawn
Expressions, reactions can make a meeting
We all want to connect right away
With little work and lots of confident
We expect the most all at once
Then get less than we anticipate
Meeting can be special and priceless
Or a nightmare from the start
From Smiles to frowns to walk a ways
Make sure those first words strike first
Positive and constructive boost the excitement
Different places, different reasons
Making a lasting impression
Always begins with you
Be yourself, never back down
Insert confident and openness
Be who you want to be
Who you should be
Meeting the first time is exciting
Could be painful
Mind over matter
Sweating with fear
Stuttering in panic
Prepare yourself wisely
Confident, positive thinking
Relaxation and meditate
Breathe in and out
Think before you speak
First impressions last forever
Be the one they remember most
