Flat Earth Poem by Richard Dates

Flat Earth

In ancient times, before our days,
From schools of learning far away,
Wise teachers taught the world was flat,
And few would dare to question that,
Then it was found,
The earth was round.

In shame, they fled their hallowed grove,
And wandered ragged and in disgrace,
Until they found within a cove,
A dark and secret hiding place,
A mental maze
In infinite haze.

So they stepped off that endless border,
They’d seen the proof of their world order,
Their model was not feasible,
Mathematically unreasonable,
And endless ledge,
The flat earth’s edge.
