Fleeting Thoughts Poem by Haley Akin

Fleeting Thoughts

With this body always moving
It was hard to just stand still
And try to take a look inside
For an appraisal of how I feel

I found my thoughts in constant movement
And at speeds I could not match
Chasing, grabbing at what I could
But, for the most I could not catch

With a fleeting feeling of victory
I finally held one in my grasp
Then to see that it was just the same
And a question it did ask

With nothing yet to offer
It then took off from my hand
Flying faster now than ever before
Without the answer that it demands

So, I stand in this great whirlwind
My thoughts now moving at warp speed
Afraid to chase another one
Because an answer it will need
