Flight To Farewell Poem by Justin For

Flight To Farewell

I let go of your hand
The puddle gathers below where we stand
And you tell me to get out of the rain
For heaven's sake
Save the rain drops
They fall in a whirlwind
Always the same spot
Always the same thought

I can see your smile in the reflection
I guard it once you go watching close every direction
Although it may quake
Splatter onto my face
I'll graze the surface with my palm
Keep it steady
Hold my fingers close
Though their footsteps may try to erase
I wont ever let your smile break
I wont let it fade

And there I sat all winter long
As the snow gathered around my legs and this song
My hands would not move
Etched in stone as blue as they had turned
And as I struggle to sneak one look
Frozen solid in this risk I took
But perfectly assembled like you had never left
I pick you up and sigh but the molecules from my breath
Melt the only thing that kept me warm that winter

The drops once again collect on the pavement
No clouds in the sky
No this time they're your tears
As you weep at what you had long feared
The sight of me torn apart
But always the sight of you
that mends my heart
