Florida Poem by Barry Van Allen

Florida

I suppose from your perspective,
that I don't seem that upset,
I am boiling in my soul,
my water rolls and rolls,
to the point of overflowing!

I guess the way you see it,
is the way I want it seen,
believe me when I tell you - - -
... Keep the ones you have,
because, you would not want this dream!

I suppose from where you're watching,
if the world has a tail,
it looks as though I've got a hold...
when the fact is that I'm holding on,
to some branches in a gale!

Then again - - - we all are,
simply flapping in life's breeze,
with the knowledge that a decent gust,
could bring us to our knees - - -
each firm in our belief,
that it wont happen here,
- - - NOT in Florida!

That is what they used to think,
in New Orleans!
