Flowers Poem by Ana Feijo

Flowers

Every flower is unique;
Every flower has her own beauty;
But only the hardest of them all
Survives the strong, dark wind;
And conquers the territory beside him;
Making dull, weak flowers;
Who are humiliated by their shape and size;
And for who they are;
Until the end.

You stole the beauty and pride from us;
To give you wealth;
The selfishness and cunningness of power
Destroyed your inner self
For now you are not a flower anymore
Because a flower must be a lot more beautiful
Than you.

And so we were as high as your feet;
Because we were different.
We were forced to serve you to survive
You were the tree that shaded our lives.

After all you did,
You survive eternally in history.
But we do not.

Today, a small flower blossoms
And with spread arms, promises the Sun
That she will return
The beauty and pride that once lived
Deep inside the people's hearts.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Thanks so much for reading! Please vote and give your opinion!
This poem is actually about prejudice (and not flowers!) : the flowers have been simply used to represent the inner beauty of each and every person. I do not mean to offend anyone or any tree.
It talks about freedom, classism, sexism ('every flower has HER own beauty', and conquers the territory beside HIM' and how people became powerful by making other's lives woeful, a good example is in the middle ages in Europe when the landlords had all the power and the people were literally their slaves. This shows the urge for freedom.
This poem is dedicated to everyone who is suffering from prejudice or that believes that this world can and will be a better place in the future.
