Flutter By Poem by Ann Jensen

Flutter By

A cry...As from the black wings of a moth
Picked up in the sticky fingers of a child.

Unstirred dust,
The layered years,

are removed, leaving only vulnerability
- unto death.

In the absurdity of an innocent world.

Fly free and be beautiful fragile one.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Dedicated to Dr. Wingard who at the time was a professor at Birmingham-Southern College.

Special thanks to George Winston whose music set the mood for this poem.
