Flying Away Poem by Thomas Noel Smith

Flying Away

Flying away
Through the nighttime sky
Lighted with the twinkling stars
I always admired so much

Soaring up into the night
Yet, remembering the world in which I lived…
I don’t know how to say goodbye
I don’t know how to say goodbye

I can’t return to the home I knew
I can never go back again
But I still love my mortal days
When I lived upon the earth.

If I had known how much I had
In spite of hurt and pain…
But I must forget and never look back
And fly upward through the nighttime sky.
