Folly Of A Sane Sage Poem by *Tony Cemaluk Egbuonu

Folly Of A Sane Sage

Back then, first shot
a sanity act of unity for peaceful pact,
path to unified peace for every part.
A Gackem stratagem?
But they ought,
or decided not,
to know that peace time
is just an interval
between two shouts of hot metal crossfire.

There was no such thing.
Justly, just domestic affairs.
Justly handled domestically.

Any Victor?
Any vanquished?
Any massacred?
Annihilated?
Ethnic Cleansing agenda?
Stomach warfare, Kwashiokor?
Economic strangulation,
flat peanut payout of any victorious deposits?

Mention, not pogrom or any hate speech,
for all is fair in domestic affairs with hot metals for peace and unity,
says the sane sage till date,
while the unlived multitudes
mourn in undug, shallow graves,
and the unvanquished
keep compensation on hold,
no longer delayed and no longer needed.
Just restitution
for the victorious victims
of the domestic fallouts of crossfire shouts of hot metals.
