Foolish Eyes Poem by Charnele Waith

Foolish Eyes

Rating: 3.5

Foolish Eyes
They have a mind of their own
The mind to cry for everything
Even when my brain is constantly telling them
'Stop! You're not even sad! '
Still they let tears fall
They're stubborn
They cry when something is too beautiful
and cry when I am angry
They cry for other individuals pain
and cry for peoples joy
They cry when my brain is overwhelmed
and cry for the scars on my heart
Foolish Eyes
Deep down I am strong
but you make me look weak
Stop caring about everything
Stop speaking for my heart
Stop ignoring my brain
You are meant to see
See! Look! Watch! Observe!
but dont you know how to keep a secret?
Hide what you see from my brain
Hide it from my heart
Then you'd never have to cry
but no
Once again you refuse to listen
Its your own fault
So I am done trying to explain to you
that 'you're not the one that is sad'
Go ahead
Be ugly and red and puffy
Go ahead you foolish eyes
