For A Friend Poem by Chris Bradshaw

For A Friend

A very good lesson
Is the one about the box
To illustrate emptiness
Consider it's function

The mind is a vessel
A carrying case of consciousness
It's true that we learn
Like filling up a house with ornaments

Feeling tired, I sleep
It takes no learning to do this
Yet my mind rebels
Overburdened with education

The sun is not taught to rise
Only our hearts need such instruction
A master understands
That the river of life

Is not a river
