For A Little Solace Poem by BASAB CHAUDHURI

For A Little Solace

When no word comes to my mind,
I close my eyes.
It is all darkness then.
From the depth of darkness,
words start trickling down
like drops of tears.
A sense of loss grips my heart.
Far from the land where I live,
a forlorn face stares at me.
He does not speak,
his eyes question humanity.
Darkness is so expressive -
all our humanity stays in darkness.
Light cannot reveal what's inside.
To get a little solace, I close my eyes.
I imagine peaceful death with eyes closed.
At the end of life, man searches humanity -
that he finds in darkness.
Complete darkness.
