For All Eternity Poem by Wayne Leon Learmond

For All Eternity

For All Eternity
..........................

As I walk through the
Valley of the Shadow of Death
My heart grows weary
and I am short of breath

My eyes perceive
the dark path ahead
that the light tries to blind
to guide me away
from the dead

But still I walk
and ever on -
further away
from the light of the sun

Further away
with each single heavy step
cold and dark surround me
as they pierce my head

Leafless branches
from the whispering trees
whip my body
as I crawl on my knees

Cut and wounded
they whip me again
Searing my soul
in the thunder and the rain

Jagged shards of glass
I walk upon
A hell of my own making
yet my hell is never done

For there is no end
to where I be
Forever
cursed to walk
for all eternty

And the devils upon
black stallion steeds
view my presence
as my aching spirit bleeds

They point to me
then gallop away
hysterically laughing
as their horses do bray

Now I join the shadows
of the night
numbered with them
forever tonight

From this moment on
I will never be free
but to walk with
the shadows
for all eternity
