For Always Poem by lara solis

For Always

Rating: 3.0

I’ll write down my words,
‘Cause I tend to forget,
How the sun touches my skin,
And love lasts truly,
But sometimes doesn’t,
Because tears fall down easily,
And fill rivers with salt,
Rivers that carry disappointment,
Of the little girl in town,
Who got nothing for Christmas,
Because her parents were poor,
And Santa is too,
And people don’t know,
That gifts are expensive,
But hopes even more.
So I’m here to say,
That I haven’t forgotten,
The color of a woman’s lips,
And a four year olds birthday,
Whose oblivion is still beautiful,
And her parents tell lies,
That are white as roses,
But not nearly as pretty.
And I think we’ve been too long under the sun,
With burned skins,
That still remember,
That life is hard,
And tiring and ugly,
But we won’t forget,
That it is also fast,
And brief and gorgeous,
And sometimes it doesn’t,
But love lasts truly.
