For Human Appetites Poem by Saiom Shriver

For Human Appetites

Should mammals birds and fishes
be murdered for human appetites?
Do these voiceless powerless
creatures
to existence have a right?

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Note: Thousands of studies document
the longer life span of vegetarians, vegans, fruitarians.

The UN and countless other environmental groups document that vegans, fruitarians, vegetarians have a lighter tread on Mother
Earth than nonvegetarians.

Mammal flesh production
takes an average 81 times the energy that treefruit takes.
Each hamburger takes an average 660 gallons of water.

It is only trioxypurine addiction or imprisonment
by past cultural programming, or listening to ignorant doctors and nutritionists who prevaricate in saying animal protein is necessary that causes people to murder animals for human dinner plates.
