For I must sing a new song
If my voice would be heard in Babel,
A voice that for a time would make
An interval, a voice to speak of simple things
Now grown strange and unaccustomed
All this will pass away which long is known
And long time feared and noise must cover
And noise must conjure away, those
Night imaginings of silent worlds.
So I must sing a new song in Babel
To celebrate the world beyond
A quiet song of jubilation
The small anthem of a greater world.
