FOR JOÃO CABRAL DE MELO NETO Poem by Arjen Duinker

FOR JOÃO CABRAL DE MELO NETO

A dog comes down the road,
Man with broom talks with man with lasso,
No reproach, the dog calls itself.

Mine is different from yours
But both of them swam in the ocean
Which is ticked with inviting colours.

We can just go on ignoring the dog,
We can also lean back against a wall
And look forward to a blue bird.

Mine is different from yours
But both of them flew to the bush
Which knocks out grasshoppers sometimes.

A bird comes down the road,
Man with broom talks to man with lasso,
Not a word, the bird waits for itself.
