For Sam And Leo Poem by Zane Gilley

For Sam And Leo

Did you ever
take the time to

STOP

and watch people?

An obscure man
with wet feet
squinting
through a Polaroid.

A boy
with outstretched arm
watching as a flock of doves
fly away.

An old woman
angrily shaking
the dry crust
off her lap.

Another boy
with an irritated air
yanking on
the threads of Fate.

A woman
affixing her pump
and straightening her skirt
by the rose bush.

A girl
rubs her elbow
with a muted rainbow
chasing itself around her.

An old man
motionless on a park bench
with the book
straddling his feet.

A man
hanging
limply
onto a tree.

A woman twisting
away
to reach
forbidden fruit.
