For You Believe In Equality Poem by Francis Duggan

For You Believe In Equality

With you who have your unseen God I well may not agree
But you are entitled to your beliefs and that's okay with me
I hope that makes you a better person and to your beliefs you are true
That you believe in a fair go and give everyone their due
If your religion makes you a better person then you are one I admire
New converts to your religion by your good deeds you will inspire
True greatness which is known to few is not beyond your reach
It truly can be said of you that you practice what you preach
There's more to you than meets the eye than your belief in God
You believe in a fair go for all speak up for the downtrod
You stick up for the homeless from Lands beyond the seas
Who arrive in search of a better life in unseaworthy boats poor Stateless refugees
You may not convert me to your beliefs but in my estimation you walk tall
For you believe in equality and a fair go for all.
