For You, From Heaven - Poem by Bancroft Boreland

My memories will keep you warm at night
And the birds shall sing to you every morning
I have asked the sky to watch over you
And the Earth has promised to provide for you
I know it will never be the way it was
Dead is my body but alive is my love
I shall wait for you in heaven
Were our souls shall be together again
Apart we are each a half
Together we are a whole
Darling I wish I had you to hold

Remember me and please be happy
This is my only wish
My hands are shaking and I
Am crying while I am writing this…
