Forever In My Mind Poem by dino evans

Forever In My Mind

If every now and then my mind may wander
I know that it will wander back to you
If daydreams capture me in morning slumber
The smile upon your face, is what I hope to view.
If you could read my thoughts dear love, just know this
That every thought I have is of your heart
But my heart has no ability to resist
The loneliness of us, being apart.

I lie among the ruins of our laughter
And think of days gone by, and things we said
These days I spend both now, and ever after
I still can hear your words, inside my head.
Times when you had told me that you loved me
Nights when we had talked, and made our plans
Perhaps there is another heart, that you have placed above me
But I believed that love was in my hands.

But fate has come to visit me with nightmares
Those cruel, and of the kind that see it gone
I've searched, and found I've lost, the hope that was there
Reality has found me on my own.
So if your thoughts may wander on occasion
Please think gentle thoughts of me in kind
And if your heart should give you hesitation
Know you are forever in my mind.
