Forever Yours Poem by Richard Goolsby

Forever Yours

In a distant memory, I can still see your face, As you walk away, Into another's embrace.
As if what we had was never real, It was only just a dream, Of hopes filled with emptiness, or now so it would seem.
Looking back to where we were, And what never shall be again, It truly breaks my heart, To think what might of been.
For what seemed a fairy-tale, Was only in my mind, As you walked away, And left me far behind!
Now I walk around aimlessly, Haunted by the past, Not ever wanting to let go, Dear God why couldn't it last.
What we had was a dream, A dream that had came true, But since you went away, My heart longs for you.
