Forget Gently Then. Poem by Daisy Pereira

Forget Gently Then.

Forget gently then
if you can
as the wind which swayed the leaves once
the breeze that kissed the rose
the sun embraced the valley
the rains soothed
the endless thirst of the molten earth

go and dance with the moon
if it is the only companion
night is sleep dream and forgetfulness

forget gently then
as the sea to the river
autumn to the summer
beauty to the sorrow
as though the only companion is
the mellowing moon
naked, never ashamed of its beauty
is the companion
of lovers the mad and the poet
hence gently forget
if you can
as dawn the dusk
night the day
dream the wakefulness...
