Forgetting Manny Guzman Poem by Rafaella Gunz

Forgetting Manny Guzman

Our own fairy tale
has a gruesome ending.
I guess we don't live happily ever after.
I guess you won't love me forever,
like you promised.
Promises are meant to break.
Looking back on this story,
retracing our every move.
Who's to blame for this backlash?
Can this damage be repaired?
Not every prince charming is perfect.
Not every princess gets rescued.
And characters get killed off.
Who's the bad guy,
you or I?
Either way, it's time to walk away.
I'm writing you out this time.
Forgetting your face.
And your breath on my neck.
I'll burn this story up.
Let the ashes of our past blow away.
And start anew.
Without you, I'll move on.
Create my own happy ending.
And conclude this horror story.
