Forgive Me Poem by Adam Thoms

Forgive Me

I once killed a man
It wasn't in my plan
To do him in,
but it was either me or him.
I don't know where to go.
Too scared to let the cops know.
Of my wrong
So I'm singin' this song.

The truth is boy I tell ya what
I had this feeling down in my gut
I have to tell someone about
Reckon that's why I'm crying out.
While he was screaming, shooting, swearing
I almost peed the pants I's wearing.
I did not think I'd make it through,
but here I am; standing before you.

It was common sense that kicked in self defense.

I'm afraid for if I tell
My story wrong would mean worldly hell.
My only out is on Gods eyes
Only he can see through the lies.
On that note I will confide
Come out from where I hide
I pray you'll get my story straight.
So, I'll serve it on a silver plate.

He was out for blood
I was knee deep in mud
Of the wrong place
At the wrong time
The wrong face
For the wrong crime

Man I took a beating
Somehow ended up defeating
My foe
So I'm gunna stand in between God's toe's
Then I'm gunna pray from there the truth shows
Either way I'm luck-ay the Lord knows
Still I pray
Forgive may (me)
