Forgiveness Hurts Poem by Donald Paul Richardson

Forgiveness Hurts

Rating: 3.8

Forgiveness

Forgiveness hurts
Like pulling a bullet from a wound
But you have to do it yourself.
And once the screaming stops
You can heal.

Harder but more urgent
When there are many bullets
From many guns
In many hands.

Hardest of all & most painful
Facing the truth
Most wounds
Are self inflicted.

Like I said
Forgiveness hurts

Indeed forgiveness hurts, but definitely a more fulfilling emotion than vengeance. It is an attribute of the strong and not the weak. A well articulated and nicely encapsulated piece of poetry insightfully penned with conviction. Thanks for sharing Donald. Please read my poem MANDELA - THE IMMORTAL ICON.
