Forgotten Poem by Tiya Sen

Forgotten

I have forgotten how holding your hand felt.
I have forgotten how your heartbeat made me melt.
I have forgotten your scent.
I have forgotten what your words meant.
I have forgotten the warmth of your breath crashing into me.
The flowers are wilting and the sun refuses to show.
This brutal and dark winter refuses to go,
And I have forgotten the person you helped me be.
I have forgotten the last time I wore a smile.
I have forgotten our walk to the end of the last mile.
I have forgotten all the reasons that keep us apart.
I have forgotten how to give myself a fresh start.
But it hardly matters what I forget or remember
Cos you and I still feel right in the longest night of December.
