Forsaken Poem by Saiom Shriver

Forsaken

The almond tree freely gives all of the
nuts she has nestled and nurtured
but the life of the cow is brutally taken.
She leaves this life feeling God-forsaken.
Would she say if she could speak
as she was crucified
Eli Eli Lama Sabacthani
before she died.
*
The last 4 words are those Jesus is said to have spoken before He died. Translated they mean 'Father Father why hast Thou forsaken Me? '
