Forward Poem by Bill Marcy

Forward

Smaller, the earth becomes
As my lonely journey begins
Soon, I will pass the sun,

My destination unknown.

Straight flight to nowhere
In the blank black cosmos
Galaxies fading, conscience waning

My senses entombed.

Promised stars, I hurdle forward
As light turns to a distant memory
Time stands still, as all things do,

Life's nothing but a vacuum.

I'm a linear man on a linear path,
Facing nothing but nothing's eternal wrath,
To nowhere have my aspirations led,
In this realm, this chasm,
Dreams depart, and
My heart descends; it
Portends my fate with no
Abate as I

Fly, fast, die, fast,
I can't last won't last
Without a home
Doomed to roam
This scape, devoid and vast
I hope for a planet
Where I can rest,
Stand still for once

Before I breathe my last.
