Fossil Poem by Ananta Madhavan

Fossil

Measure the passing time
By sand-fall or by gears,
What measure can tell
The granulated years?

Measure the passing time
By wrinkles or by tears,
What measure can tell
The laminated years?

Measure the passing time
By mountains or by seas,
What measure can tell
The hardening arteries?

Measure the passing time
By artifact surmised,
What measure can tell
A rapture fossilised?
