Foster Care Poem by Adisyn HIcks

Foster Care

Mothers day and Father's day come and go
Thanksgiving and Christmas come and go
But i am not with the family i know

I'm surrounded by strangers
People I don't know
I'm bounded with so much anger
Anger I cannot let go

I try to take it one day at a time
But all the stress builds up day by day
I'm always trying to find a peace of mind
To keep from going off I just walk away

People say I have an attitude that I need to change
They talk bad about me.. and i'm beginning to believe what they say
I am.. who I am..
Although the person I am is never really accepted
Being in foster care is just something i've learned to deal with

Its like my hopes and dreams are no longer what they were
Why? Because my hopes and dreams have been flooded with so much hurt
Foster care brings so much pain,
Pain that is just so hard to explain...
I cannot wait until I turn 18!
