Freedom, Alas Poem by Katherine Bryce

Freedom, Alas

Free from these chains that bind me,
some say I'm too young to stand tall,
but I say Be True, Be You,
love yourself any which way.

love me or hate me,
care or not,
I know I'm more than this,
and more than you.

I have friends who love me,
a path to follow,
faith to hold me strong,
and peace to free me.

I speak my mind,
I will become new,
my mind is open,
and I choose to let it be.

so stay or go,
you want me again,
yet I say no,
I'm over you.

So this is goodbye to you,
yet freedom to me,
I wish I could say I'll miss you,
but truth be told I won't..
