Friend Poem by Maximus D. Redwood

Friend

'You'll never do it,
What, you're really that sad? '
I know you think that.
I see it in your face when you see the old markings on my arms.
'It's just for attention.'
I know you think that.
I see it in your movements as you make
Special care to avoid me.
I am crying for help, albeit silently.
You make sure you ignore them,
You can only cover your ears and close your eyes,
Friend.
You can only think that someone else would come and save me,
Friend.
You make sure to ignore it all and hope someone would fix me.

'You really did it,
I can't believe you were really that sad, '
You say and I know you really don't mean it.
I saw it in your face when you saw those old markings in my arms long ago.
'I'm so sorry, '
You apologize, but I don't think you're being sincere.
I saw it in your movements as you made
Special care to ignore me long ago.
You're here with me, you aren't ignoring me anymore but it's far too late for that.
All you did was cover your ears and closed your eyes,
Friend.
You hoped someone else would come and save me,
Friend.
You ignored it all and hoped that someone else would fix me.
I don't blame you,
But it's too late for regrets as I draw my final breath.
And I fade away.
