Friend Poem by Janine Alyssa Navarro

Friend

You’d turn this into something else
but you and I aren’t going anywhere.
You said you’d take me somewhere
but honey, somewhere isn’t where I want to go.

I’m using my frail strength or its residue,
the sounds in my head are driving me crazy.
For now let’s just be this and nothing more,
but honey wait for me, please stay.
