Friend Poem by Mehrdad Dadkhah

Friend

‌There once was a friend  whom I shared a lot with.
She came to me on her own, yet left me alone with ease.

As I sought some soothing from this sad pain,
I sat by the window; watching the wind's play.
It caressed me gently under the moonlight's glare.
Nonetheless, its touch shattered the very thoughts of her,
Leaving my mind's surface empty, barren and bare.

Her thoughts were wrecking my fragile a brain.
And all I could do was mumble 'I'll be ok'.

As if My soul was painted gray,
I felt ostracized by the world, consumed by dismay.

This inquite feeling of seeing her, yet not being in touch.
it is like a quandary of a bubble bursting moments before the clutch.

That night, I let my mind wander away.
a vagabond drifting amongst memories and sighing at the loss.
Sometimes, I remember how good those days were.
Should I bury it or perhaps, in a whisper say, 'Hey'?
